MOUNTAIN GHOST COIN
MOUNTAIN GHOST COIN
• The term "mountain ghost" first appeared in Qu Yuan's "Nine Songs" from the Chu Ci, where it refers to a mountain deity who, not having received formal recognition from the heavenly emperor, was only known by this title. Legend has it that he was skilled at upholding justice for the people, responsible for protecting the creatures of the mountains, and together with the land, safeguarding the region. Later, for convenience, people cast amulets of pure copper in the form of coins bearing the mountain ghost's blessings to carry with them.
